Traditional Thatching Services
Packham Thatchers offer a full service from estimating to full re-roofing including any timberwork or chimney stack construction. Our experience in home grown wheat straw thatch or water reed has taken us around the UK. We specialise in thatching both traditional cottages and new builds.
As Master Thatchers with over 30 years experience, we can provide specialised advice on all aspects of your thatching project. From the structure of your timberwork to designs for your ridging, you can rely on us to guide you through every step of the thatching process.
To ensure we use only the highest quality products in our thatched roofs, our reed and wheat straw thatch is homegrown and threshed in our own vintage Clayton & Shuttleworth machine (available to hire).

Ridging is what gives your thatched roof its personality and unique style. As the highest part of your roof, your ridges also face the most exposure and will need replacing every 5 to 10 years. Whether you need new ridges or re-ridging, we can help with a creative block or flush design.
Netting - Galvanised or Nylon
We offer two different types of netting for your thatched roof, Galvanised and Nylon. As Master Thatchers, we can offer advice on which would be best for your project and fit your budget.
A strong chimney stack is important for a safely thatched roof. During our work, we will be able to advise on the stack’s condition and rebuild if needed.
